I was born in Taiwan, but grew up in San Francisco, CA. Several years ago when I needed a chi pao for my wedding to my husband Myles, I had difficulty finding one. I looked everywhere, including online and in stores. I was wary of not knowing who I was dealing with online and not being able to see and feel the fabric. The off-the-rack chi paos that I found were problematic because the quality didn’t meet my standards, and the traditional narrow cut of the pre-made garments were not well suited for every body type. I almost gave up, but my aunties were insistent that I wear a chi pao at the wedding reception. In the end, my father took my measurements and specifications with him to Shanghai to have a dress custom made.
This was the genesis of my idea for a specialized service blending tradition and custom with contemporary American sensibilities. Every gown is custom tailored for a perfect fit. I strive to offer clients a wide choice of fabric patterns that they will find appealing, as well as a variety of styling options that will best flatter them as individuals. My personalized approach makes this an easy and comfortable process, with the end product designed to the client’s specifications.
I travel to Asia regularly in search of beautiful textiles to offer my clients, and I am fluent in Mandarin.
