Racy was born in Taiwan, but grew up in San Francisco, CA. Several years ago when she needed a chi pao for her wedding to her husband Myles, she had difficulty finding one. She looked everywhere, including online and in stores. Racy was wary of not knowing who she was dealing with online and not being able to see and feel the fabric. The off-the-rack chi paos that she found were problematic because of the quality, and the traditional narrow cut of the pre-made garments were not well suited for every body type. She almost gave up, but her aunties were insistent that she wear a chi pao at the wedding reception. In the end, her father took her measurements and specifications with him to Shanghai to have a dress custom made.
This was the genesis of her idea for a specialized service blending tradition and custom with contemporary American sensibilities. Every gown is custom tailored for a perfect fit. Our personalized approach makes this an easy and comfortable process, with the end product designed to the client’s specifications.
Racy travels to Asia regularly in search of beautiful textiles to offer clients, and is fluent in Mandarin.
